Use of natural stone in the garden has increased in recent years. It is usually chosen to complement the patio material. The most common use would be in the creation of raised garden planters, and retaining walls.
RAISED PLANTERS
The effect of raised planters is to create a low maintenance planting option which is easy to access. Often the walls will be built to seat height offering an additional informal seating option.
LEVEL CHANGES
Where a garden has a change in level a retaining wall may be required to create level areas. As well as being structural, the walls in a well-designed garden should be aesthetically pleasing and should fit into the overall design. Wherever stone walls are built by skilled tradesmen, the walls themselves will be a feature in the garden.
